A former Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) contractor pleaded guilty on Wednesday to being a spy for the Iranian government and intelligence officials while in the US between 2017 and 2024. He allegedly gathered sensitive information on American airports and our energy industry for at least seven years.
Abouzar Rahmati, 42, is a naturalized American citizen who, at the very least, should have that designation revoked and get the boot for his treasonous actions. He lives in Great Falls, Virginia.
According to the DOJ, Rahmati pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to act and acting as an agent of the Iranian government in the US without prior notification to the Attorney General. That’s called espionage, and we used to execute people for that.
It gets worse. He was a 1st Lt. for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) from June 2009 to May 2010. That is an elite branch of the Iranian Armed Forces that specializes in killing Americans and is designated as a terrorist group by our government. READ MORE
