Introducing DEI: Not Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, but Discernment, Edification, and Inspiration

The acronym DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) has become a focal point in discussions about creating more inclusive workplaces. However, these initiatives have led to more division and strife, opening the door for workplaces to discriminate based on skin tone and ethnicity. Just like Ken Ham has retaken the rainbow at the Ark Encounter, we need to take back DEI from the radical progressive (or shall I say regressive) left. I’m not talking about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. I’m talking about Discernment, Edification, and Inspiration. This is a DEI initiative I can get behind. Focusing on biblical principles that offer genuine transformation. These elements are vital as we navigate life, particularly in light of end-time Bible prophecy and the return of Christ.

Discernment: Seeing Clearly in a Confused World

Understanding Discernment

Discernment is the ability to see clearly, distinguish between truth and falsehood, and make wise decisions based on God’s guidance. Charles Spurgeon is quoted as stating, “discernment is not knowing the difference between right and wrong. It is knowing the difference between right and almost right”. Discernment is a spiritual gift that enables us to navigate the complexities of life with clarity and confidence. In a world bombarded with conflicting information and values, discernment is more crucial than ever. As Christians, we are called to cultivate this gift by seeking God’s wisdom and aligning our actions with His will.

The Apostle Paul emphasizes the importance of discernment in Philippians 1:9-10: "And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ". Discernment enables us to live in a way that honors God and prepares us for Christ’s return.

Cultivating Discernment

To cultivate discernment, we must immerse ourselves in Scripture, allowing God's Word to guide our thoughts and actions. Hebrews 4:12 reminds us that "the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and spirit, of joints and marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." By grounding ourselves in truth, we can navigate life with clarity and make decisions that reflect God's values.

Prayer is also essential in developing discernment. James 1:5 encourages us, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him." Through prayer, we invite the Holy Spirit to illuminate our minds and provide the insight needed to discern God’s will in every situation.

Discernment in the Last Days

In the context of end-time prophecy, discernment becomes even more critical. Jesus warned His disciples about the deception that would characterize the last days. In Matthew 24:24, He says, "For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect." Discernment helps us recognize and resist false teachings and remain steadfast in our faith as we await Christ’s return.

An example of how Christians can view the current world through the lens of discernment and prophecy is the increase in misinformation and fake news. The proliferation of deep fake technology, AI-generated content, and social media misinformation campaigns highlight the importance of discernment. These developments align with biblical warnings about deception in the last days and emphasize the need for Christians to seek truth and rely on God’s wisdom.

Another example is the rise of false religious movements and ideologies that deviate from biblical teachings. As spiritual trends emerge, such as the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR),  it is crucial for believers to discern between genuine biblical teachings and deceptive doctrines. This discernment is vital as we navigate a world filled with competing beliefs and ideologies that can lead us away from the truth of God’s Word.

Edification: Building Each Other Up

Understanding Edification

Edification involves strengthening and uplifting one another, fostering environments where people can grow in faith and character. Unlike the ridiculous nature of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, where a person is rewarded based on gender, skin tone, sexual orientation, etc. True edification seeks to empower individuals based on their God-given gifts and abilities.

The Bible calls us to edify one another, as seen in 1 Thessalonians 5:11: "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." Edification involves providing support, encouragement, and accountability, helping each other grow in faith and live lives that reflect God’s love and truth.

Practicing Edification

Practicing edification involves intentional actions that build up others spiritually, emotionally, and relationally. It starts with recognizing the unique gifts and talents God has given each person and encouraging them to use those gifts for His glory. Romans 12:6-8 emphasizes the variety of gifts within the body of Christ and the importance of using them to serve others.

Mentorship and discipleship are powerful ways to practice edification. By investing time in others, sharing wisdom, and walking alongside them in their faith journey, we help them grow in their relationship with God. Hebrews 10:24-25 urges us, "And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."

Edification in the Last Days

As we approach the end times, the need for edification within the church becomes increasingly important. The challenges and trials of the last days require believers to stand together, supporting and encouraging one another in faith. In Hebrews 3:13, we are reminded to "exhort one another every day, as long as it is called 'today,' that none of you may be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin."

The global plandemic has highlighted the importance of edification and community support in times of crisis. As churches have adapted to new ways of gathering and worshiping, the role of edification has become more apparent. Online communities and digital discipleship have provided opportunities for believers to encourage one another, despite physical distance, fulfilling the prophetic call to build up the body of Christ. I do want to encourage each of you to not use the emergence of online ministries as a reason to not gather together. Paul tells us in Hebrews 10:25, to “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together”.

In addition, the increase in natural disasters and global instability are other prophetic signs, emphasizing the need for the church to edify and support those affected by these events. As we reach out to those in need and provide practical assistance, we demonstrate God’s love and reflect His kingdom values in a world that is increasingly in turmoil.

Inspiration: Sparking Passion and Purpose

Understanding Inspiration

Inspiration is the spark that ignites passion and purpose, driving us to fulfill God’s calling on our lives. As Christians, our ultimate inspiration comes from Jesus Christ, who provides us with the strength and motivation to pursue excellence in all we do. Inspiration is about recognizing God’s work in our lives and allowing His Spirit to guide us toward our divine purpose.

The Bible is filled with stories of individuals who were inspired by God to accomplish great things. From Noah building the ark to Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt, God’s inspiration empowers His people to step out in faith and pursue His plans. Philippians 4:13 reminds us, "I can do all things through him who strengthens me," highlighting the power of divine inspiration in our lives.

Cultivating Inspiration

Cultivating inspiration involves seeking God’s presence and allowing His Spirit to renew our minds and hearts. It requires a willingness to step out in faith, trusting that God will provide the guidance and resources needed to fulfill His calling. By spending time in prayer and worship, we open ourselves to God’s inspiration and allow His Spirit to work through us.

The Bible provides countless examples of God’s faithfulness, reminding us of His promises and encouraging us to pursue His will. Psalm 119:105 declares, "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path," highlighting the illuminating power of Scripture in guiding our steps.

Inspiration in the Last Days

In the context of end-time prophecy, inspiration plays a crucial role in motivating believers to remain faithful and active in their mission. The anticipation of Christ’s return inspires us to live with purpose and urgency, sharing the gospel and serving others with love and compassion.

The rise of global evangelism and mission work is an example of inspiration in action. Despite challenges and opposition, believers around the world are inspired by the urgency of the Great Commission to share the gospel with every nation, as foretold in Matthew 24:14: "And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come."

As mentioned previously, the increase in technological advancements has also opened new avenues for sharing the gospel and reaching people in previously inaccessible areas. The use of digital media, social platforms, and online resources has inspired believers to engage in creative and innovative ways to spread the message of Christ’s love and hope to a world in need.

Conclusion: A New Vision for DEI

As we embrace this new vision for DEI, let us be champions of Discernment, Edification, and inspiration! I know, a little corny, right! But seriously, as a Christian living in the last days it is important now more than ever before to focus our attention on Discernment, Edification, and Inspiration. It’s becoming more and more difficult to know what is true. Pray that the Lord will provide you with the discernment that discern truth from lie. Build up your brothers and sisters in Christ. Don’t let petty non-essential doctrinal issues divide you. Grow in Christ with one another. Edify one another. Be an inspiration. Show others that your love for Jesus is stronger than ever through your actions, even in the dark and tumultuous times.

We are in a battle. Let’s be warriors for the cause of Christ. “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6:11-12
